Help Ukraine!

We receive and publish the appeal that the members of the Slovak EoC have addressed to their friends, to all of you

While the whole world is following with anguish and dismay what is happening in Kiev in these hours, Slovakia is on the front line to take concrete actions to face the emergency and welcome the fleeing refugees. Here is the heartfelt appeal of the Slovakian EoC community and we make it our own in the hope that each of us will find a way to help "our brothers and sisters" in Ukraine.

Dear Friends, each of us is shaken by the news and feels indescribable pain at the madness of the war in Ukraine, which we are witnessing live through all the media and through personal contacts with our friends over there.

We join the call of all people of good will, organisations, alliances, churches and communities around the world who condemn this conflict. We are for an immediate end to the war in Ukraine, for peace and for dialogue! Together with you, we entrust everything to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Many of you ask us: What to do? How can we help concretely?

First of all, Ukraine asks us to pray for them, to create peace and to spread it!!!

As you know, many of our families and individuals are already contacting the people of Ukraine, opening the doors of their homes to them and offering concrete help. Let's follow them!

We hope that each of us will find a suitable way to help our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Let us open our hearts and homes together and contribute according to our abilities. United in prayer for Ukraine!

Four focolarine are currently in the west of Ukraine, from where they remain available to the people of the community; among them Mira Milavec who works through Caritas Ukraine, for which she works. In Slovakia meanwhile, the EoC community is working to start a fundraising campaign to help people who have remained in Ukraine, families and individuals from Ukraine who remain in Slovakia or who pass through Slovakia on their way to neighbouring countries.
