The 7th edition of the CUIB "Entrepreneurship & Academy" Fair took place in Buea
by Godric Mbunya and Steve Azeumo
From 30th March to 3rd April 2022, the EoC Association of Cameroon had the opportunity to be present at the 7th edition of the "Entrepreneurship & Academy" Fair at the Catholic University Institute of Buea (CUIB), an undoubtedly highly anticipated event by all that it has been a success beyond all expectations.
First of all it was a great pleasure for all of us in the EoC team to have the opportunity to work together again on the CUIB Campus, after a long period of absence. On the 3rd April, the EoC Leadership & Entrepreneurship workshop was held in the Ngonghi room and in the presence of Prof Victor Julius Ngoh, the President of the CUIB, Sr Therese Njamfa (CUIB Staff) and some teachers. Over 65 students attended the workshop, including 5 who did an internship in our stand throughout the Trade Fair, among them, some shared their experiences, impressing the participants and the staff with the quality of learning they acquired in a very short time.
One of the students said that her meeting with the EoC team was very positive. She had been given a task that was not easy for her to promote Mabs and Smalls Kitchen, one of the EoC companies whose products were on sale at the stand. Her first and foremost goal was to create a good relationship with the people she would meet, by starting a conversation, getting to know their businesses better and listening to them, before offering them Mabs and Smalls Kitchen products. Although it was not easy for her to communicate with others, she realized that she had overcome her difficulty, managing to exchange contacts with other students and owners of the stands.
Another student shared her experience with another activity proposed to students to interact and offer their services to stand owners, the "How may I help you?" He was asked by a stand owner to collect litter from the stands, an exercise that embarrassed him as he was very popular on campus. However, he put aside his pride and picked up the rubbish regardless of the comments of those who knew him. An experience which was also much applauded and which certainly had an impact on the other students.
The workshop was animated by Steve William Azeumo, (President of the EoC Association in Cameroon), who explained to the students what the is EoC and what are the guidelines for running a company according to its model. Godric Mbunya Azombu, underlined the call of Pope Francis for the next event The Economy of Francesco, with the result that some students, having felt the desire to be among the thousands of young people to respond to the call of the Holy Father to give a soul to the economy, they have decided to register for the event next September. Finally, Dr. Bertha explained how to deepen the knowledge of the EoC and how to join its network.
During the workshop, the students were divided into groups that had to answer the question "How can the EoC be experienced on the Campus?" This is how almost all the groups proposed to restart the EoC club in the CUIB called "EoC in action", with the availability of no less than 15 students to join the club that will be relaunched in the coming days.
The workshop turned out to be a great learning experience for students who have shown an interest in learning more. The EoC team believes that through this experience many more fruitful relationships will be built with the new CUIB administration and that students will return to pay particular attention to the EoC model, as in the past.
