A new edition of CONECTA begins in May: registration is now open. An inspiring experience: words of the participants of the first edition
Sara María Álvarez Moisés
The first edition of CONECTA was a transformative journey in which 20 participants from different parts of Spain and Latin America came together to explore a more inclusive and sustainable economic future. Since its inception in September 2024, we have witnessed not only an enriching dialogue between entrepreneurs and citizens who have experienced the realities of an exclusionary economic system, but the experience of fraternity and community has had a significant impact on the lives of all.
Interestingly, the experience of a profound meeting “among equals,” beyond one's role in society, left a profound mark for both profiles of participants. For those who came from the corporate world, in most cases it represented a hopeful encouragement that they are not alone in the effort to build a more equitable economy, which is reflected in business practices and the impact they have on society. Similarly, for a number of people who, mainly because of migration, have found themselves in situations of extreme vulnerability and/or social exclusion, this experience of feeling seen, heard, and valued for who they are has been an important beacon of hope; some have said that this experience has given them the strength to begin their job search again, as they have regained self-confidence and hope in society.
In CONECTA's experience one of the pivotal statements of the Economy of Communion was very tangible:
«“No one is so rich that he has nothing to receive, and no one so poor that he has nothing to give».
There are those in the corporate world who have acknowledged that they came with the best intentions of teaching others many of the good practices they practice in business, but who say they received is far more than they were able to give. On the other hand, there are others who had come feeling undervalued and doubting that their contributions would be useful.... What they experienced at CONECTA and feeling heard makes them end the experience with the feeling that they are appreciated and that what they have to say is also important.
Now we are preparing for the second edition!
With great excitement, we announce that the second edition of CONECTA will be held from May 9 to July 20, 2025. This is a call to all who wish to be part of this transformative journey, where voices of change come together to build a better future.
