Young Italian entrepreneur Gregorio Pellegrino takes over from John Mundell in the EoC International Commission
by Antonella Ferrucci
The announcement to the EoC Community was made by email from the International Secretariat of the Economy of Communion, on behalf of the whole Commission:
“Magaret Karram (the current president of the Focolare Movement – ed.) has approved Gregorio Pellegrino, a young Italian entrepreneur who has been involved in the EoC Italy for years as a new member of the International Commission. We are very happy to welcome him!”
Gregorio Pellegrino is from Turin and runs his family's publishing house, Effatà Editrice. A IT engineer who has always been passionate about communication - from video to music, from design to photography -, he has tried to reconcile these two worlds in his work, dealing with digital publishing, new media and the web, also with particular attention to the accessibility of products by the blind or by visually impaired people. He has been involved in the Italian EoC and the AIPEC association for several years.
In the International EoC Commission Gregorio takes over from US entrepreneur John Mundell of Mundell & Associates, who has been recently appointed director of the “Laudato Si Action Platform”, promoted by the Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development.
“Caring for the earth and all it holds. We are experienced scientists and engineers working together to discover, clean and protect our earth,” reads Mundell's website. Through his work as an environmental engineer, John has always been involved with the environment and the preservation of the earth on many levels, also internationally. A commitment that has always gone hand in hand with his entrepreneurial interest for the Indianapolis area and for the least cared-for, with countless initiatives for neighbourhoods, prisons, and people in need. His current important position at the Dicastery, serving the entire Church, is a direct recognition of this commitment.
Member of the International Commission since 2008, in recent years John has made a valuable contribution to the Economy of Communion, in particular by having promoted and maintained the EoC training of dozens of young people from all over the world through internships at his company since 2004. It is safe to say that in the past 18 years an entire generation of young people currently involved with the EoC in various capacities have been through an intense and fruitful internship in Indianapolis with John at Mundell & Associates. John's real talent for sharing and recounting the very concrete experiences that the EoC has given him should also be underlined: the EoC website contains quite a collection of them.
To John, thanks from the bottom of our heart and best wishes for his new service to the Church. To Gregory welcome and “buon lavoro”!
