#OPLAStories - The first echo of the EoC 2023 projects comes from Angela from the Philippines who, thanks to the support of the EoC, was able to complete her studies to become a radiology technician: “You have inspired me to have a kind heart and a helping hand”.

"Sharing is caring and it is the best thing we can do”. This is the first echo that reaches us at the close of the 2023 EoC project cycle. It was by Angela, a young Filipina, whose request for financial support came to us last year through one of the EoC workers when she was in her final year of the radiology technician course; her family was doing all they could to help her, but were unable to cover all the costs of the course, and her application for a scholarship to the government of her country had been rejected.
Angela's application was accepted after assessing in particular the impact that the completion of her training could have on her finding work and achieving self-support, while also helping her family: the fruits of all this can already be seen. This is what Angela tells us:
“Sharing. With our family, with friends and even with strangers. It is an overwhelming experience to know that, when shared, even small or big things will make someone happy and grateful.”
In her letter Angela expresses her deep gratitude to all those who supported her on her ‘journey’, having provided financial, moral and, above all, spiritual support not only to her, but to her entire family. She has now put herself at the service of the people around her and intends to be a good daughter, friend, student and sister, a shoulder to rely on for all those who need her today and for those she will encounter on her way in the future.
“I am very grateful that God has given me the opportunity, both financially and morally, to share with others what I have and the help I can provide. You have inspired me to have a kind heart and a helping hand. You all have a special place in my heart. I really hope you continue to inspire and support people who need your help. I love you with all my heart! May God bless you all!”
In addition to the gestures of reciprocity she has already made and will make in the future, in the knowledge that she too can give, Angela wanted to treasure her experience by giving it to the whole EoC network around the world, telling us her story.
Thanks Angela, now we know that in the Philippines there is a radiology technician who lives trying to put communion into practice, starting a chain of reciprocity of which there is no end in sight!
